Our beautiful Ruben was nearly nine months old when he died.
Ruben Jack Paterson was born on the 5th of August 2004. He was the most beautiful little baby, he had so much hair which stood straight up and the biggest brown eyes anyone had ever seen. His big sister Stella who was then 2 absolutely adored him and so did everyone else who met him. He was a mummy's boy and loved lots of cuddles and never wanted to be put down!
He was a healthy little boy who loved his swimming lessons, loved food and was just a happy boy in general. No one could have prepared us for what was going to happen. In the early hours of the morning on the 3rd of May 2005, Ruben died in his sleep. We found him as he took his last breath and we and the ambulances tried to save him but it was just too late. The cause of death is SIDS which is pretty uncommon at the age of 9 months but we were just unlucky I suppose. We miss him so much but we will never forget our precious little Ruben Jack. We now have another little boy Linken Jack who has just turned one. Stella is very happy with her new brother and we have another baby due in 7 weeks! Having more children has not filled the hole in our hearts, and they will never come close to replacing Ruben but they give us lots of laughs, happiness, hope, cuddles and a reason to move forward. They also bring a lot of stress. Love Alicia and Rob (Ruben's mummy and daddy)
